In December 2010, ICCL representatives held high-level human rights meetings in Washington DC. On 16 December, ICCL Director Mark Kelly met with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as part of a delegation of the International Network of Civil Liberties Organisations (INCLO). On the following day, he and Karen Ciesielski of the ICCL’s Organisational Development Team met with Samantha Power, Special Assistant to President Obama for Multilateral Affairs and Human Rights.

The Irish Council for Civil Liberties marked International Human Rights Day (10 December 2010) by raising the curtain on its 2011 Human Rights Film Awards. The third installment of the ICCL’s Know Your Rights series of public information packs was formally launched on 24 November 2010 at Buswell’s Hotel by ICCL guest and eminent human rights lawyer Anthony Lester QC.

On 15 December 2010, the ICCL took to the road for the second of our Know Your Rights ‘roadshow’ events in Dundalk . The ‘roadshows' are designed to promote the Know Your Rights packs to those working in advice giving and information provision roles in the community and voluntary sector who would benefit from using the packs in their daily work.
